Walking to Stonehenge
It is possible to walk to Stonehenge from Amesbury but walking boots may be useful if it's been raining.
You can walk from the centre of Amesbury along the Countess Road (A345) up to the roundabout at the A303 and use a pedestrian underpass that is situated on the Eastern side.
This will bring you out close to the Travelodge where you then proceed up the countess Road. There is a footpath about 300M up the road on the left which will take you to Stonehenge. For more specific details refer to Google Maps or refer to OS Landranger Map 184 for more details.
A taxi to Stonehenge
If you do not have access to transport and you don't fancy walking to Stonehenge then your best bet will be a take a taxi. If you're staying at a hotel or B&B then they will be able to organise a taxi for you. I wouldn't think that a taxi to Stonehenge from Amesbury would cost more than about £5 in each direction.
